Teaching Voice: Martinique has been a professional singer and piano player for more than 20 years. She has a three octave vocal range and has, during her professional career, sang in all genres, in live performances as well as studio work. She has had a successful career with singing, songwriting and piano playing and has received much airplay in various parts of the world with her CD “Tangled Web of Cool”. Martinique Walker studied voice for 7 years with various teachers, the most notable being Maestro David Kyle who taught on Broadway in New York for 35 years. He also trained opera singers, and rock singers such as Anne Wilson from “Heart” and QueensRyke. He gave speech lessons to such celebrities as Johnny Carson and James Garner. Martinique has combined David Kyle’s excellent techniques with her own experiences and techniques to come up with a strong and full proof method for discovering the voice that lies within. Her techniques involve simple but effective breathing exercises to learn the vocal breath, and strengthen the body, resonating exercises, to produce great sounds and vocal exercises to increase the range. Learning to sing involves the whole body and Martinique combines the teaching of these techniques with the proper use of the body. It comes together to produce a relaxed, not tense, singer. This frees the voice and allows the singer to express his/her individuality. The techniques work for all types of singing. |
